OUR VISION

“Providing Vincentian leadership of transformation, assisting persons who are vulnerable to move from marginalization and despair to participation and hope.”

Our dedicated Members provide over 39,000 hours of volunteer service each year to the Lake Travis Thrift Shop and our community.

HISTORY

In April of 1991, Monsignor Richard McCabe from Emmaus Parish asked a group of ladies led by Anita Fisher to establish a Ladies of Charity Lake Travis Association. Within this association, he suggested a Thrift Shop be formed to support a new charity. This charity he felt compassion for, The Lake Travis Crisis Ministry, has the mission to serve those in need in the Lakeway area. Funding had been difficult for the charity and the proceeds from the new thrift shop were to support their ever-growing needs.

The Lake Travis Thrift Shop continued to grow through the support of donations from the Lakeway community and fabulous, dedicated volunteers. The Shop changed locations several times until it made its final home in 2020 to 440 Medical Parkway in Lakeway. This growth has allowed Ladies of Charity Lake Travis to support many more additional charities beyond the Lake Travis Crisis Ministry, such as Community First, St. Louise House, Mobile Loaves and Fishes and Catholic Charities. We have also partnered with the Rotary Club of Lakeway/Lake Travis to provide educational scholarships to Lake Travis High School Seniors.
