“Providing Vincentian leadership of transformation, assisting persons who are vulnerable to move from marginalization and despair to participation and hope.”

Our dedicated Members provide over 39,000 hours of volunteer service each year to the Lake Travis Thrift Shop and our community.

In April of 1991, the Pastor of Emmaus Catholic Church, Monsignor Richard McCabe, came to parishioner Anita Fisher with a proposal to support an organization whose mission is to serve those with a critical need in the Lake Travis community. The Lake Travis Crisis Ministries was providing valuable services but was experiencing a lack of funding. Monsignor McCabe’s suggestion was to establish a Lake Travis Association of the Ladies of Charity USA, open a thrift shop, and thereby provide ongoing financial support for the Lake Travis Crisis Ministries.

Three months later, a small group of 37 women came together to for the Ladies of Charity Lake Travis for this purpose. They opened the very first Lake Travis Thrift Shop in July of 1991 in a tiny storefront on Ranch Road 620.

The Thrift Shop continued to grow, larger space needed, more support to additional charities was financed, and in 2020, the Ladies of Charity Lake Travis decided the Lake Travis Thrift Shop needed a “forever” home and found it at 440 Medical Parkway, Lakeway, TX.

This continued growth has allowed the Ladies of Charity Lake Travis, Inc. to support over 60 charities whose missions range from supporting those in poverty to women and children in need, as well as educational scholarships for high school graduates. Our members continue to act together to fight all forms of poverty. We are forever grateful to our fabulous Lake Travis community who support the mission through donations, shopping, and volunteering at the Thrift Shop.

Proceeds from The Ladies of Charity Lake Travis Thrift Shop support the mission of lifting up those in poverty to confirm an individual’s dignity, encourage personal growth and self-determination.
