OUR VISION
We will accomplish this mission by imitating Him in all our endeavors and the members will seek sanctification for themselves and others as we provide for the spiritual and corporal welfare of the poor and needy of the community.
Our dedicated Members provide over 39,000 hours of volunteer service to the Lake Travis Thrift Shop and our community.
HISTORY
In April of 1991, Monsignor Richard McCabe came to Anita Fisher with an interesting proposition. He was a great advocate for those in need and he had identified an incredible faith-based, fledgling organization whose mission was to serve those in need in the Lakeway/Lake Travis area. There problem was a lack of funding. Monsignor asked Anita to establish a Lake Travis Association of Ladies of Charity USA and through that organization, open a Thrift Shop to fund Lake Travis Crisis Ministries.
Anita Fisher and a small group of 36 women came together to form Ladies of Charity – Lake Travis for this purpose. Three months later, in July of 1991, the Ladies opened the Lake Travis Thrift Shop in a tiny storefront on Ranch Road 620.
In a few years, we acquired more space in the same location and continued to increase our annual return to the community every year. In 2020, we moved again to a new, larger location at 440 Medical Parkway, thereby doubling the space! We continue to be the largest provider of aid to the Lake Travis Crisis Ministry. We have since expanded our contributions to so many others, such as Community First, St. Louise House and Catholic Charities. We have also partnered with the Rotary Club of Lakeway / Lake Travis to provide educational scholarships to Lake Travis High School seniors. See a more complete list of those we serve here.
